LALO / Symphonie espagnole
RAVEL / Boléro

In a concert showcasing 20th century masterworks with Latin dance roots,
audience favorite Karen Gomyo returns to the Colorado Symphony for
Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole. Written for the great Spanish
violinist Pablo de Sarasate, Symphonie espagnole is a wondrous platform for
intonation and technique, prowess and passion. Equally infused with Spanish
melodies is Ravel’s famous Boléro. Opening the concert is John Adams’ first
grand masterwork, which will set the tone for the harmonic and rhythmic
structure of Boléro.
