Andre de Ridder, conductor
Yumi Hwang-Williams, violin

BRYCE DESSNER Réponse Lutoslawski
BARTÓK Violin Concerto No. 2
DVORÁK Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 "From the New World"

Conducted by the versatile Andre de Ridder, Colorado Symphony Concertmaster Yumi Hwang- Williams performs Béla Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2 before the orchestra takes on Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9. Popularly known as the “New World Symphony”, the work was influenced by the rhythms of Native American music, African-American spirituals, and the wide-open spaces Dvorák encountered on a trip to Iowa in the early 1890s.

Don't forget to arrive early for the prelude at 6:30 pm hosted by Phillip Stevens. Preludes are insightful discussions that take place before each Masterworks performance and are included with your concert ticket. For more information about the different types of preludes, CLICK HERE.
