J.S. BACH St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244

Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, first performed on Good Friday 1727, is widely considered one of the crowning artistic achievements of Western Civilization. Bach’s masterful musical interpretation of the Last Supper and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, puts chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew to music and spans 195 minutes. The Symphony’s production is unusual in that it is a full staging of the work with the Colorado Symphony Chorus. Featured tenor Nicholas Phan takes on the part of the Evangelist and baritone Hadleigh Adams performs the role of Jesus.
Don’t miss these performances: They are truly some of the most profound events of this season — or any other.

The complete duration of this performance is 195 minutes with one 25 minute intermission.
