A Light in the Void is the world’s first concert experience to blend unforgettable scientific stories—told by world-renowned scientists—with stirring orchestral accompaniment and stunning visual narrative. Featuring all-original compositions, this experience of intense wonder and excitement will take you on a journey to learn incredible scientific facts and ignite your senses with the elation of discovery and wonder. The story of science unfolds before you in a special blend of content, music, and visuals, lovingly choreographed to tell a complete story 13.8 billion years in the making. A Light in the Void will renew our vows with all that is greater than ourselves.

About the Scientists:

Maria Spiropulu is Shang Yi Ch’en Professor of Physics at Caltech and experimental high energy particle physicist at Caltech’s Lauritsen Lab, Fermilab, and CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Alice Roberts is Professor of Anthropology & Paleopathology at The University of Birmingham. Carolyn Porco is Professor of Planetary Science at The University of Colorado at Boulder and a former project leader for the Cassini-Huygens Space Probe at NASA.

Vienna Boys Choir

Boys have been singing at the Viennese court since the 14th century. Historians settled on 1498 as the foundation date for the Vienna Boys Choir and, until 1918, the Choir sang exclusively for the imperial court, at Mass, concerts, private functions, and on state occasions.

Today, the Vienna Boys Choir consists of 100 boys between the ages of ten and fourteen from dozens of nations, divided into four touring groups. Each group spends nine to eleven weeks of the school year on tour. Among them, the four choirs give 300 concerts and performances each year before almost half a million people. Join us for an evening of awe-inspiring vocals with a small ensemble of your Colorado Symphony adding to the uniqueness of this concert evening.

This performance will feature only a small portion of the musicians of the Colorado Symphony.

Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, Perlman is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond to his remarkable artistry and irrepressible joy for making music, which he communicates through his expressive performances. Jennifer Higdon’s brisk, enchanting Fanfare Ritmico begins the program on an exuberant note while a host of Colorado Symphony musicians will be featured in starring roles in Ginastera’s Variaciones concertantes.
