BRAHMS Nänie for Chorus and Orchestra, Op. 82
SCHUMANN Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54
BRAHMS Symphony No. 3 F major, Op. 90

Join Christopher Dragon in his second season as Associate Conductor for the Colorado Symphony as he teams with pianist and former Colorado Symphony Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, who filled the post from 2005 to 2010. For his return to Denver, Kahane tackles the singular piano concerto of Robert Schumann. Leading off the program, the Brahms opener, Nanie -- that's German for funeral song -- is a meditation on mortality. After the dramatic start, Schumann's energetic and eclectic Piano Concerto provides some lightness, and the melodic masterwork that is Brahms' Symphony No. 3 follows.
